On the 29th and 30th July, AELA, NENA, Future Dreaming and QUT co-hosted the kick off event for ‘Regen Brisbane/Meeanjin’.
Regen Brisbane/Meeanjin is a network of individuals and organisations exploring how we can work together to make Brisbane a regenerative city. Inspired by the work of ‘Regen Melbourne’ and now part of a growing network of ‘Regenerative Cities’, Regen Brisbane is planning some amazing discussions, projects and events over the coming 2 years (at least).
The series of online and in-person events will enable us to explore how we can work together, to create innovative, Earth-centred and socially just ways for Brisbane/Meeanjin to become a regenerative city.
The kick off event had more than 100 people in attendance (60 people + speakers in person and 40 people + speakers online) and a fantastic program, which set the scene for the Regen Brisbane ‘Community Think Tank’ process, based on the Greenprints approach.
The program for the event is here. The program featured some seriously amazing speakers, including:
- Adjunct Associate Professor Mary Graham, Kombu-merri and Waka-Waka person
- Professor Yin Paradies, Deakin University
- Professor Will Steffen, Climate Council and Stockholm Resilience Centre
- Brisbane City Councillor Jonathan Sri

I’ll write more about Regen Brisbane/Meeanjin and its activities further over the coming months
